The Mallorca Chamber Orchestra was founded in early 2017.
The initiative of a young viola player, Bernat Quetglas, the orchestra was to be a vehicle for young musicians but also to be one not focused on Palma, as is the case with most of Mallorca’s classical music.
Inca was to be its home, a decision enhanced by the redevelopment and reopening of the Teatre Principal. In all but name it has become the resident orchestra, the forthcoming season consisting of five concerts between January and May. The final one (May 17) will be Rossini’s ‘The Barber of Seville’, while the season will start with the New Year concert, featuring soprano Nadia Akaarir for a programme of works mainly by Johann Strauss.
