Excerpt from the New World Symphony - Dvořák. European Symphony Orchestra Conducted by Pierre-Yves Gronier at Nouveau Siècle, Lille on 20 February 2022 | Youtube: Orchestre Symphonique Européen
George Frideric Handel composed Messiah in 1741.
The text came from the King James Bible and the Book of Common Prayer. Although the structure resembles opera, there is no dramatic element. It is instead an extended reflection, through the text, on the life of Jesus.
One of the most frequently performed choral works, there is something of a tradition for its performance in Mallorca over the Christmas period. In Palma, there will be two major performances this season
The first feature the European Symphony Orchestra with the Orfeó Balear choir and soloists - 150 people on stage and conducted by the choir’s Daniel Mulet. The European Symphony Orchestra, or the Orchestre Symphonique Européen, to give its French name, has toured regularly over its eight years’ existence. Based in Belgium, its first tour was a concert of Tchaikovsky’s ‘The Nutcracker’.
