Fifty years of musical mission

This year is the fiftieth anniversary of the first Festival Musical Mallorca.

This festival survived for only four years, but over its brief period it attracted an international television audience and featured some famous names - Julio Iglesias and Paco de Lucía were among them. Leading composers and orchestra leaders also participated - Elmer Bernstein, Bill Conti, Michel Legrand, Henry Mancini, Lalo Schifrin and Bert Kaempfert, who lived in Cala Blava and died there in 1980.

For the 50th anniversary, the Palma Band of Music, which also goes under the name SimfoVents, will be performing works by these legendary names, including Schifrin's classic for 'Mission Impossible'.
