The Orquestra Camerata Balear is an orchestra made up mostly of young musicians between the ages of 15 and 25 who are undertaking courses to excel in their chosen instruments.
The orchestra was founded in 2020 by its conductor, Daniel Mulet. From the conservatory in Palma, he is considered to be one of the most promising conductors in Spain, he also being the conductor of the Orfeó Balear choir, to which the orchestra is linked.
He graduated in piano and later studied organ and has said that playing Bach's fugues has forced him to think "polyphonically"; in other words, to have several tunes and melodies harmonising.
A principle of the orchestra is to explore different musical styles and themes, and its concert in Palma will feature works as diverse as Mozart, the Italian opera composer Pietro Mascagni, and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
