German charts record-holder at Son Amar

Son Amar certainly know how to keep the New Year party going.

From 12 noon on Wednesday, the Danzû music events team return to present an all-dayer headlined by Germany’s Paul Kalkbrenner.

He holds the honour of having had Germany’s longest-running chart song of all time. This was for ‘Sky and Sand’, which spent 129 weeks in the German singles chart. Only Wham!’s ‘Last Christmas’ has spent longer in a singles chart.

Associated with ambient techno and house, he isn’t your regular DJ/producer in that he is a live act with synths, sequencers and drum machines. His musical background includes having learned the trumpet and music theory while at school.
