Cuban-Canadian singer-songwriter Alexis Puentes, better known as Alex Cuba, is a Grammy Award winner for Best Latin Pop Album and Best Singer-Songwriter Album.
Originally from Cuba, he emigrated to Canada when he married a Canadian woman in 1999. Once in Canada, his music moved towards jazz fusion, and it has retained a mix of jazz, pop, Latin and African. He first came to prominence in 2001 when he was in a duo with his brother and they were nominated for Canada’s Juno Awards Best Global Album. His 2021 album, Mendó, won the Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album.
His will be the final concert for September’s Alcudia Jazz Festival.
