Siggi String Quartet to perform in Deya this summer. | Facebook
International the Deya music festival most certainly is, and one of the highlights of this summer’s festival will be the Icelandic sound of the Siggi String Quartet.
Two violins, viola and cello, they are also members of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra and were the Icelandic Music Awards’ Performer of the Year in 2018. Their collaborations include arguably Iceland’s most famous musical export, Björk.
Their debut album in 2019, ‘South of the Circle’, indicated a commitment to Icelandic composers, while recordings include works by American Philip Glass with Icelandic pianist Víkingur Ólafson. In Deya they will be joined by piano and double bass, and the programme listing includes composer Atli Heimir Sveinsson.
