The trio with Marco Mezquida, Ramón Prats and Masa Kamaguchi who will perform at Bellver Castle. | R.C.
Minorcan Marco Mezquida was trained in classical piano before branching out into jazz, pop and flamenco.
A graduate of jazz piano from the Catalonia School of Music, his list of recordings since 2012 is remarkable - getting on for thirty. These reflect his diversity. ‘Ravel’s Dreams’ in 2018 was a notable success, for instance.
With his latest trio comprising Masa Kamaguchi on double bass and Ramon Prats on drums, his latest album is ‘Tornado’. This is the product, he says, of a long history of friendship with the two and of their experiences on the road. Masa is “a unique and passionate double bass player”; Ramon is a drummer “with an infinite musical imagination”.
Their concert concludes the Jazz Palma Festival 2024.
