Daniel Ligorio performs Granados works for piano. | Youtube: Warner Music Spain
Frédéric Chopin is not just remembered for having been one of the world's greatest composers, he was also one of music's most intriguing personalities.
He obviously had his association with Mallorca, which makes the fascination with him that much stronger. And for performers, there is an endless challenge in reproducing and interpreting his marvellous legacy and in seeking to understand his character more deeply.
Daniel Ligorio is one of Spain's finest concert pianists. He has also performed with numerous leading orchestras and is arguably best known for his interpretations of works by Spanish composers Enrique Granados and Joaquín Rodrigo.
But he has taken the theme of Chopin, his life and music, in creating a concert programme that examines his composition, his aristocratic background, his brilliance and his sickness.
Fragments of letters therefore blend with the music in presenting a programme that is a journey into the soul of Chopin.
