Lindsay Hannon and a lot of Tom Waits

From Newcastle, Lindsay Hannon started out in an indie-rock band before realising that her bluesy voice was suited to jazz and to “true musicianship”.

The range of her vocalising is such, however, that one of her projects involves her fronting a kind of Tom Waits tribute act - Tom Waits for No Man.

Mallorca has this thing about Tom Waits, promoter Tomeu Gomila in particular. It all stems from the series of concerts over a ten-year period up to 2010 that went under the title of Waiting for Waits. He never of course showed up, and there has subsequently been the ongoing series of Women Don’t Wait for Waits concerts. Which is where Lindsay Hannon comes in, as December 7 is Tom Waits’ 75th birthday - Tom Waits for No Man will meet Women Don’t Wait for Waits.
