Luxembourg calling for the Pollensa Festival

The Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1933.

It was originally the in-house orchestra of RTL Radio, which started its broadcasts to the UK as Radio Luxembourg in the same year. Back then, it was the RTL Grand Symphony Orchestra. The current name dates from 1996, which was when the Luxembourg government set up a foundation that allowed its continued existence.

The orchestra, with Canadian piano soloist Bruce Liu, will perform the first concert for the 2024 Pollensa Festival on August 4. The 63rd edition, the festival will run until August 30. The full programme has yet to be released, but one other concert (August 7) has definitely been confirmed; this will be by the flamboyant Chinese pianist Yuja Wang.
