In Mallorca sixty years on - Tom Jones

Back in the 1960s, Tom Jones was one of the British pop acts who came to Mallorca at a time when the island was establishing a reputation for nightlife that was aimed primarily at tourists.

Cilla Black, The Animals, The Kinks were among others. It is remarkable to think that it is almost sixty years since he first performed on the island, his career since the 1960s having owed much to an ability to combine a continuity with those old days with reinvention, none more so than when he was the featured singer on The Art of Noise cover of Prince’s ‘Kiss’.

That powerful voice is one of the most unmistakable in pop history, Sir Tom, as he now is, worthy more than most of the accolade of legend, and one who has experienced consistent success over a long and astonishing career.
