A moment during the concert by the Balearic Symphony Orchestra at Bellver Castle. | E. QUEIROLO
Composed in 1777, Mozart’s Oboe Concerto in C major is considered to be one of the most important concertos in the oboe repertoire.
Subsequently reworked for flute, both concertos came to have a strange history. The oboe work was presumed to have been lost, while the flute concerto was unknown. They were rediscovered in 1920 from archives at the Salzburg Mozarteum.
For the next Balearic Symphony Orchestra concert at Bellver Castle, young oboe player Martín Lopesino will be the soloist for the concerto. Internationally renowned Martín Baeza-Rubio will be the conductor for a programme that also includes a selection from Khachaturian’s ‘Spartacus’ and ‘Habanera’ by Spanish composer Enrique Fernández Arbós.
