Delica Chamber Orchestra performing Abba, Queen and Beatles. | Youtube: Excelentia Música
The Delica Chamber Orchestra is an all-female ensemble based in Spain but comprising musicians from leading music schools who have played with prestigious orchestras in the UK, Germany, Austria, France and Hungary as well as Spain.
They recorded their first album - 'Recuerdos de Italia' (Memories of Italy) - in 2017 and have performed in major concert halls in Europe.
Twelve artists in all, the orchestra comes under the same umbrella as the Royal Film Concert Orchestra - Spain's Fundación Excelentia. Like the film orchestra, one of their concert formats is the music for cinema by greats such as John Williams and Ennio Morricone.
Their repertoire is great - from baroque to the modern day and so therefore to pop and rock. And pop and rock are the themes for their concert in Palma. Abba (six songs) and The Beatles (also six) are included in a programme which also features Queen, Michael Jackson, Aerosmith, Scorpions and Leonard Cohen.
