PALMA. MUSICA. ANDREA MOTIS, TROMPETISTA, SAXOFONISTA Y VOCALISTA CATALANA. | R.C.
Barcelona-born jazz trumpeter, saxophonist and singer Andrea Motis has said that Mallorca is like her second home.
A regular performer on the island, she was just 15 when she was invited by Quincy Jones to form part of his Global Gumbo All Stars band at the 2010 Perelada Festival. At that age, she recorded her first album - one of jazz standards.
One of Spain’s leading jazz musicians, having released eleven albums and collaborated with others on even more, her music is eclectic and open to all styles. Her latest project, ‘Temblor’, is indicative of this, as it brings the mandolin and violin together with percussion and trumpet in a blend of Mediterranean and Latin with American and British jazz traditions. This is the first of four concerts for the Jazz Palma Festival 2024.
