The 'Sons de Nit' concert series will host the American singer-songwriter on 22 July at the Claustre de Sant Domingo. | archives
Sons de Nit (Night Sounds) is the title of a series of concerts over the summer organised by Fonart, a cultural association founded in 1996.
Each year from June to August, the Sons de Nit concerts are an eclectic mix of folk, indie and jazz. Occasionally artists come along who are eclectic mixes all of their own. Rufus Wainwright is one such artist. Moreover, he is a singer with genuine international recognition.
Ever since winning a Canadian award for most promising male vocalist of the year in 1990 (when he was 17), he has been a unique talent who has embraced styles ranging from folk to rock and opera - a 2016 album contained adaptations of Shakespeare's sonnets.
The son of folk-blues singer Loudon Wainwright and Canadian folk singer Kate McGarrigle, music was clearly in his blood; an intriguing and fascinating artist.
