Syd Barrett’s ‘aunts’ in Palma

Gigolo Aunt was a track on Barrett, Syd Barrett’s second solo album.

It was a track and an album that would probably never have been made had it not been for the efforts of Pink Floyd’s Dave Gilmour and Richard Wright, such was Barrett’s tortured state.

The title inspired the name of American power-pop band Gigolo Aunts. Formed in 1981, they have had a good deal of success over the years. ‘Where I Find My Heaven’ was re-released in 1995 because it featured in the soundtrack for the film ‘Dumb and Dumber’. They have historically been popular in Spain and have played major festivals like Benicassim’s. They are currently touring Spain and are in Palma this weekend.
