Violinist Sergei Dogadin. | Sergei Dogadin via Facebook
Sergei Dogadin is one of the brightest talents to have emerged from a new wave of Russian violinists.
Now 34, he began studying the violin at the age of six. He has taken part in the International Tchaikovsky Competition, held every four years in Moscow and Saint Petersburg; in 2019, he won first prize.
He will be performing with the Balearic Symphony Orchestra for a programme that includes ‘Violin Concerto in A minor, Op. 82’ by the Russian composer Alexander Glazunov. Written in 1904, it swiftly gained international recognition. The following year, Sir Henry Wood, famous for almost 50 years of conducting the Proms, presented the British premiere in London. The programme will also feature Liszt’s ‘Les Préludes’ and César Franck’s ‘Symphony in D minor.
