The first concert for this year’s 30th anniversary Sa Pobla festival will be on Tuesday, July 23.
The Sa Pobla Jazz Collective, comprising new generation musicians from the island and led by Toni Vaquer, will perform a free concert in the Plaça Major at 10pm. The four other main concerts are paid for; there is a 45-euro subscription for the whole lot if you so wish.
The first will feature what is described as a genuine super group. An all-female quintet, this is Artemis. Based in New York, they are Renee Rosnes (piano), Ingrid Jensen (trumpet), Nicole Glover (sax), Norika Ueda (double bass) and Allison Miller (drums).
