Jonathan Cohen - Conductor. | Facebook
Jonathan Cohen began his professional career as a cellist after completing his studies at Cambridge University.
In 2000, he was a founder member of the London Haydn Quartet. Ten years later, he founded Arcangelo, an ensemble for early music. He is the artistic director of one of the world’s leading period performance ensembles, Arcangelo having appeared at the Proms on three occasions.
Among the ensemble’s discography and awards is one from the BBC Music Magazine for cello concertos by Carl Philipp Emmanuel Bach, Johann Sebastian’s second surviving son. This was with leading German cellist Nicolas Altstaedt, who has also worked with Arcangelo on performances of cello concertos by Luigi Boccherini.
Works by both these composers, plus Haydn and Wilhelm Friedemann Bach form the programme for the Arcangelo concert at the Pollensa Festival.
