Silvia Pérez Cruz is a two-time Goya Awards winner for best original song.
Awarded the 2022 national prize for contemporary music, she is difficult to categorise in that she draws on an eclectic array of influences - jazz, flamenco, folk music from Spain and Latin America.
The prize from the culture ministry commended her creative and interpretative quality and her naturalness and versatility, all this having been demonstrated with, for example, Las Migas, the female flamenco group of which she was a founding member.
Other collaborations have included a suite of Catalan and Valencian peasant songs with the National Orchestra of Spain and recording with Minorcan jazz pianist Marco Mezquida.
A special talent and one of Spain’s most important contemporary artists.
