The Bookshop Band - the offspring of an artistic love-affair between composers Ben Please and Beth Porter. | MDB Digital

They were so good, he offered to produce their next album and ended up playing on every track as well.

The Who’s Pete Townshend had heard previous releases by The Bookshop Band and was enchanted by what he heard. There were reminders of Sandy Denny and Fairport Convention as well as The Incredible String Band; high praise indeed.

The band is a form of amalgamation between award-winning folk musicians Beth Porter and Ben Please and Mr B’s Emporium of Reading Delights in Bath. The songs (and name) are inspired by books they have read from the bookshop - authors such as the Brontës, Aldous Huxley and Philip Pullman. They will be in Mallorca for two dates, one in Palma, the other in Sa Pobla.
