Enrique Morente was one of flamenco singing’s great innovators.

An experimentalist without losing sight of the traditional roots, he brushed off criticisms of corruption of the music in becoming one of flamenco’s outstanding exponents. He died in 2010 at the age of 67 as a result of complications following an operation. Among those who paid tribute was Paco de Lucía, with whom he had collaborated.

And to close this year’s De Lucía Festival, it is his son, Kiki, who will prove that the innovation didn’t die with with his father. A renowned artist in his own right, he combines the flamenco guitar with singing and is a performer with great charisma.
