The Torrent de Pareis in Sa Calobra provides the remarkable setting for a legendary occasion in Mallorca’s music calendar.
Painter Josep Coll Bardolet, originally from Catalonia but resident in Valldemossa from 1944 until his death in 2007, came up with the idea of creating a symbiosis between the Tramuntana landscape that he painted and music. He chose the Torrent de Pareis. The first choral concert was in 1964, and since 1968 the Capella Mallorquina choir has performed.
Supported by the Sa Nostra Foundation, the one-time bank’s choir will also be performing as will be the University of the Balearic Islands Choir. In addition, the highly popular a cappella group Cap Pela will be singing. An extraordinary event which in a way is as much about the being there as the music.
