The Deya International Festival of Music is now into its 46th year.
Spread across the summer months, the concerts are mostly at Son Marroig, the estate in Deya that was developed by the Archduke Louis Salvador and overlooks the Sa Foradada rock formation, the small peninsula with the hole in it.
The opening concert for this year’s festival will feature Armenian pianist Armen Babakhanian, who has been the soloist with numerous leading orchestras such as the Moscow Philharmonic, the US National Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic in London. The programme has two Beethoven sonatas, one of them being ‘Appassionata’, and Mussorgsky’s ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’.
