Pignoise are one of Spain’s top pop-punk bands.
Active since 2002, they cite the likes of The Ramones and Green Day as influences while their background is rather unusual. Guitarist Álvaro Benito and drummer Héctor Polo are both former professional footballers. Álvaro once played for Getafe and Real Madrid; Héctor was with Real Zaragoza, among other teams. The third member of the band is bassist Pablo Alonso; he was a theatre student before joining them.
They have released eight studio albums, having risen to national popularity in 2005 with the theme song for a hugely successful TV comedy drama, Los Hombres de Paco.
In 2008, and continuing with a football connection, they were responsible for the official song for the Spanish men’s team at that year’s Euros, a tournament that Spain won.
