The genius of cello at Bellver Castle

Pablo Ferrández from Madrid is an award-winning cellist who has performed with various prestigious orchestras, such as the National Orchestra of Spain, and at international festivals including Verbier and Kronberg (he was named soloist of the year by the Kronberg Academy in 2011).

On the recording front, he teamed up with the Stuttgart Philharmonic for concertos by Dvorak and Schumann; he is exclusively signed up to Sony Classical.

Variously described as “a new cello genius” and a soloist with “expressivity and charm”, he is the invited soloist for the first of the Balearic Symphony Orchestra’s main summer concerts at Bellver Castle; there was a prelude concert on June 14. He will be performing Elgar’s Cello Concerto, Op. 85, and the programme also features Beethoven’s Pastoral.
