The human essence of Mozart

Daniel Mulet is the conductor of the Orfeó Balear, a Palma-based choir with up to 120 choristers that has grown in importance since its founding a few years ago and has done so with very little institutional support.

An orchestra conductor as well, he says he is comfortable with both but that choral singing “connects me directly with my human essence”.

For the concert at the auditorium, the orchestra will be the Orquesta Sinfónica Europea. Having conducted Handel’s ‘Messiah’ at the auditorium, Daniel Mulet will this time be in charge of Mozart’s ‘Requiem’, a work that was unfinished when the composer died in 1791 and which the Count Franz von Walsegg, who had commissioned it, attempted to pass it off as his own work.
