The pop band who paid tribute to the cracker of the Enigma code

Hidrogenesse are Carlos Ballesteros and Genís Segarra.

An electronic pop duo, they formed in 1996, since when they have gone on to release albums that have been lauded as albums of the year.

Influenced by the likes of Sparks, Kraftwerk, The Smiths and Saint Etienne, their music is largely defined by the way in which they construct whole albums around themes, and not always obviously conventional themes.

In 2012, their album 'Un Dígito Binario Dudoso' (A Dubious Binary Digit) was a tribute to Alan Turing, who cracked the Enigma code during the Second World War.

Derivative but at the same time highly original, Hidrogenesse are the headline act for concerts that are part of the celebrations for the twentieth anniversary of Es Baluard Museum of Contemporary Art. Admission is free but with prior registration.
