Carl Cox, now 61, is unquestionably one of the godfathers of today’s dance music, a “king” of electronica.
In the 1980s his career took off alongside the arrival of Chicago house music, the Ibiza explosion and the rave scene.
In the Balearics he is mostly known for his Ibiza connections, but he has a special place in Mallorca’s dance history for three appearances at Can Picafort’s Nit de l’Auba. The Night of the Dawn is a classic of the summer fiestas and a highlight of Can Picafort’s August celebrations, and Carl Cox first headlined it in 2005.
He returned in 2008 and 2010, and after a 14-year gap he is back this summer.
