Born in Palma, Concha Buika is the daughter of Equatorial Guinean politician Juan Balboa, who left the country when he dissented with dictatorial policies.
The winner of Grammy Awards - best Latin album of the year and best Latin jazz album - she blends jazz, soul, copla and flamenco. Her collaborations have included huge names from the world of jazz, e.g. Chick Corea and Pat Metheny, and from Latin-rock (Carlos Santana).
Recording since 2000, her songs have been included on soundtracks, such as Pedro Almodóvar’s ‘La piel que habito’.
The concert in Canyamel is a benefit for the Amigos de Tilloli association, which pursues educational initiatives in India.
