The Speedways are a London-based power-pop group comprising Matt Julian (vocals, guitars and keyboards), Mauro Venegas (lead guitar, backing vocals), Adrian Alfonso (bass, backing vocals) and Kris Hood (drums).
Their first album was released in 2018, and the current line-up came together for the second album in 2020, ‘Radio Sounds’. ‘Talk of the Town’ in 2022 really established them and showcased a band influenced by British acts over a number of decades, e.g. The Kinks, Elvis Costello and Graham Parker.
Spain has proved to be fertile territory for The Speedways. They have toured previously and developed a strong following, a fourth album, ‘Triple Platinum’, having been released this year. It is a compilation of their first five years.
