Born in Madrid in 1995, Sara Ferrández began playing the viola at the age of three.

By the age of seven she was performing in major concert halls, such as Madrid’s Auditorio Nacional de Música. Six years later she was admitted to the Queen Sofia School of Music and subsequently, aged 21, worked with one of the world’s most prestigious orchestras, the Berlin Philharmonic.

A major talent, she is the Balearic Symphony Orchestra’s invited soloist for a programme that will include Joseph Schubert’s Concerto for Viola and Orchestra. It’s not stated which concerto, as there were three. Schubert was himself a violist. Completing the programme will be Gabriel Fauré’s Pavane and Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1, Titan.
