Cyndi Lauper’s stage musical success

Spanish production company, Theatre Properties, can boast an impressive series of musicals - ‘Annie’, ‘The Full Monty’, ‘Shrek, El Musical’ are among them.

Another is ‘Kinky Boots’, a title which - for some - will bring back memories of ‘The Avengers’ with Patrick Macnee and Honor Blackman. The musical owes nothing to that song other than having the same title.

An American musical that premiered in Chicago in 2012 before moving to Broadway the following year, it was based on the 2005 British film of the same name about a business partnership with a drag queen. Pop singer Cyndi Lauper won a Tony Award for Best Original Score; it was the first time she had written for a musical.
