Olivia Newton-John will always be remembered as Sandy in the film Grease. | Phil McCarten
Olivia Newton-John died in August last year. This was as a result of the third bout of breast cancer that she had suffered, having first been diagnosed with cancer in 1992.
Her advocacy of breast cancer research and her career are to be recognised by a special concert in March. Baleartmusic is bringing back its version of ‘Grease’ for what will be a benefit in aid of the Balearic division of the Spanish Cancer Association.
It’s probably fair to say that most people remember her for ‘Grease’, though by time she appeared in the 1978 film (which was to become the highest-grossing musical film at the time), she had already had a string of hits that had made her an international star.
For the Palma show, Mallorcan singer, actor and television presenter Ricky Merino will take the role of Danny and Mallorcan singer and actress Victoria Maldi will be Sandy.
