Great soprano sings great composer

Ainhoa Arteta is one of Spain’s greatest sopranos, whose operatic debut was far away from Spain.

It was in 1990 in Florida with the Palm Beach Opera. She had the role of Clorinda in Rossini’s La Cenerentola. Her first London performance was alongside Placido Domingo at the Royal Opera House in 1999.

No stranger to Mallorca, she is returning for a concert with Francesc Blanco on piano. He is a professor at Palma Conservatory and is very familiar to classical music audiences in Mallorca. The concert is the first in a series of ‘Torrandell Nights’, dedicated to the Inca-born composer Antoni Torrandell, one of the greats of Spanish music in the first half of the twentieth century.
