It's one of those things that tends to happen to football teams.
They get drawn against each other in cup competitions, with matches to be played around the same time as they are due to meet in the league.
So it is for Real Mallorca and Real Sociedad, and because their Copa del Rey semi-final is a two-legged affair, they will have played against each other three times in the space of three weeks once the second leg in San Sebastian is completed on February 27.
In the league, Mallorca are keeping a wary eye on the relegation zone, while La Real, as Sociedad are usually and simply referred to, are not without ambition of getting into Europe; the Europa League rather than the Champions League.
