Grand final European Challenge tour. | AITOR ALCALDE
The Challenge Tour is the second-tier men's professional golf tour in Europe.
Players who are successful on this tour qualify for membership of the main tour, and the flagship event is the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final, for which there are more ranking points than the others.
Some big names have either won or been runners-up in the Grand Final over the years - Henrik Stenson and Tommy Fleetwood, for instance. One of four joint runners-up in 2021 was Yannik Paul of Germany, whose first win on the European Tour was the 2022 Mallorca Golf Open.
Held at the Club de Golf Alcanada, it could just be that there is a future star (or more than one) who will be vying for the Grand Final cup. Number one on the list of 46 golfers who have made it on 'the Road to Mallorca' is Spaniard Manuel Elvira.
The tournament will start on Thursday and will end on Sunday.
