The Mallorca Cyclist Challenge, principally sponsored by Garden Hotels and Luxcom Cycling Holidays, has been established for more than 30 years.
Taking place in late January, it is a series of races (trophies) largely for cycling teams on the island for winter training. Teams this year include some familiar names, such as Cofidis and Movistar.
From Saturday, January 25 to Sunday, February 2, there are eight trophies in all, the first three being for women's teams. They will set off from in front of the town hall in Marratxi for the first trophy, which is to Felanitx via Algaida, Llucmajor, Campos, Ses Salines and Santanyi.
It is an event which very much places Mallorca to the fore as a cycling destination for professionals and all others.
