The Velòdrom Illes Balears repeats as the setting for the opening of the UCI Track Champions League, with all its figures. | E.Q.
The UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) Track Champions League brings together some of the world’s top cyclists over five rounds of competition.
In partnership with Discovery Sports Events, the league concludes with two rounds at London’s Lee Valley VeloPark in November. The first round, as was the case with the first two champions leagues, will be in Palma.
The league’s director, Florian Pavia, says that the start of a new season is always special and that the velodrome in Palma has been the “perfect host” for the two previous campaigns. “An event that, without a doubt, will once again highlight the island’s commitment to sport and cycling.”
Spanish cyclist Sebastián Mora, who was runner-up in the endurance category in both 2021 and 2022, says that he’s delighted that the league will again be starting in Mallorca. “The Velòdrom Illes Balears is a fantastic place and I’m always very proud to race there in front of a passionate local crowd.”
