The Via Fora turns Germania into a spectacle. The revolt of 1521 is once again the protagonist of the theatrical project that was born in 2003. | M. NADAL
In 2004, Alcudia town hall was instrumental in establishing a series of productions that combined the history of the walls with the history of Alcudia.
This was Via Fora, the ‘fora’ meaning a cry for help. Some of the scenes over the years have been about the need for help, such as in 1357, when Peter the Ceremonious of Aragon ordered a hurry-up with building the walls because of the threat posed by Peter the Cruel of Castile.
There are five dramatised scenes. They are at different spots by the walls. The first has to do with that construction in 1357. Others concern privileges granted to Alcudia, banditry, yellow fever and - the final one in the Pont de la Vila Roja amphitheatre - the arrival of tourism in the 1960s. There’s always a great atmosphere for the Via Fora, a combination of performance and the old town on a summer’s night.
