The organisers, Mallorca Platja Tour, had promised a "fun and festive day". This included some ball de bot folk dance. And there were no incidents until a few people started to shout "tourists go home".
At this point, the Guardia Civil acted. They told the protesters to remove banners and asked some of them for ID, the Guardia interpretation having been that this was a protest without permission. It is the case that authorisation for protests has to be given in advance by the Spanish government's delegation in the Balearics.
The action, which had been scheduled to go on until 1pm, came to an end prematurely and protesters dispersed. Mallorca Platja Tour said on X: "We have recovered Caló des Moro. It has been magical. We call for 'recovering' each and every one of Mallorca's beaches."

Some protesters! Can’t make it for 8-0am then wish to leave at 1-00pm Probably for long lunch with mummy and daddy Just returned from Crete and the bars/restuarants/taxis people just laughed at those who gave no thought for the over 50% locals who rely on tourism to put food on the table Why no protests about how politicians are spending the tourist tax? Why not use all the millions to provide social houses for the mallorcians as we all agree the rents are stupidly high and yes tourists are to blame but in a lot of instances the properties are owned by Mallorcians All this half hearted action is doing is making the island a laughing stock Will be interesting when visit in July!
Many, not all, but many will agree there are too many tourists coming to these islands in the last few years. Unmanaged tourism ( just like unmanaged immigration) is a self destructive entity and we are seeing that destruction for ourselves . The Island of Calm has long gone but does it have to be replaced by the Island of Chaos. When it is impossible to go into our capital city for a pleasant day's visit right through the summer months, when many of the beautiful coastal areas are closed off to traffic because they just cannot cope , it is obvious the island, our home, is not working for the people who live here. So I do not criticise the protestors who are bringing this situation to the world's attention. We must encourage the masses to go elsewhere and as we do we will conversely encourage those higher up the food chain who will pay a little more to come somewhere where they do not feel they are invaders destroying peace and quiet. Add to this sports tourism on the shoulders of high summer and surely, if properly managed, we can remold our premiere market into something we all can live with in harmony.
The world has too many idiots.
I don’t go to the beach but it seems that the indigenous people love those Euro Funds from Brussels to pay for those Beach facilities !
Good job by the police this is really very pitiful and ridiculous guess these are indigenous beach goers from thousand of years ago who actually should really get free food and Drinks , Absurd !
