Dear Sir, Barbara Mayhew, our president of ten years, announced at our AGM last night (Thursday, February 1) that she was standing down from the position to devote more time to her new husband, John Elson. The Committee wishes to publicly congratulate the happy couple and wish them both all the best in their retirement.
We are delighted, however, to announce that we have a truly dynamic new president in the form of Hattie Winstanley. Hattie has been working with us for several years and has proved such an invaluable asset that the new Committee overwhelmingly voted her into the position. Hattie will be balancing her new responsibilities of our numerous four-legged Refuge family with her own houseful of rescued cats and dogs, each and every one of whom adore her.
Hattie will, of course, be attending our Valentine's Dinner Dance on February 14, and we hope that we will be able to get her out of her invariable working clothes to don an evening gown for the occasion!
Jane Sutherland,
Co-secretary.
