Having just read your article about overcharging taxicabs, the following may interest you. My husband and I were in Majorca two weeks ago and were charged 3'000 pesetas for a taxi from the airport to a hotel on the Paseo Maritimo (this was not metered). We were then charged 2'700 pesetas for the return journey. This was metered but items were added to the meter when we arrived at the airport. As the meter was used, we assumed that this was correct and unfortunately did not get the number of the cab. In Palma the price of 950 pesetas for a 500ml glass of beer and 850 pesetas for a 500ml glass of water seemed rather excessive (Cafe Talat). Then at a waterfront bar in Porto Cristo we were charged 1284 pesetas for two small bottles of San Miguel beer. We very much enjoyed our first visit to Majorca but should we visit again we will be very much aware of what we pay for things!
Yours faithfully
Lovely place, shame about the prices
