Dear Sir THROUGH your newspaper I have kept up to date with the debate concerning All Inclusive Hotels. I feel the people concerned with deciding the future of this type of holiday must take a long serious look at what is on offer, and what is to be offered in the future.

Our party of 9 (aged 57 to 80+) have enjoyed many All Inclusive breaks around the Med, with Majorca being a favourite, but our experience this September has changed our minds about this type of holiday.

We spent 2 weeks at a Hotel in Sa Coma (an area we love) and whilst the Hotel was fine, the staff (what there was) helpful and friendly, and the food OK, as usual there was no room set aside for adults only, where you could have a quiet drink on an evening.

Due to the severe shortage of staff, children (probably 10 to 15 years of age) ran riot every day and every night. Their parents were happy to wave goodbye to them on a morning and not see then until night time. Therefore no supervision. I will not class all the children in this class, but the minority spoil it for them all. The staff were fed up with the situation, along with most of the guests, but without any security at the hotel nothing could be done about the problem. The luggage room was out of bounds to children, but the “little darlings” turned it into their own room, and did as they pleased.

I know the hotel hope to have security staff next year, as they deserve better in very trying circumstances. The behaviour of the few make you ashamed to be British.

I agree that the local shops and bars close to this type of hotel will probably suffer through many families not leaving the hotel complex, and therefore not spending in the area, but this is what All Inclusive Holidays promote. Everything is there for you so why go outside?

Before becoming an all inclusive island, Majorca will need to look at facilities offered at the hotels, provide adequate security, and a must should be an area designed for adults only, as available in other types of hotels.

The wrong decisions taken now can only damage the island's future reputation.
Think very carefully.
