Brad Pitt, for becoming the face of Chanel No 5 perfume in succession to Marilyn Monroe, Catherine Deneuve , Nicole Kidman and such French actresses as Audrey Tautou, Carole Bouquet and Vanessa Paradis. Whether or not he owes this recognition to his relationship with Angelina Jolie is not clear but the main point is probably that Chanel has found a way to revive interest in its 70-year-old fragrance which is believed to be losing appeal to Dior's J'Adore. Is a male No 5 in the offing with Jolie taking back the female promotion from Pitt? ( R.F.)
