Cyclists Having recently returned to Majorca after a break of three years, I have noticed a huge increase in cyclists. I always have a ‘small' family car and this year I was not happy with quite a few cyclists who either bunch up, three or four abreast on narrow roads or either individually or collectively wander into the centre of the road for no apparent reason.


While not wanting to get into a car versus bike argument, some of these cyclists seem to have a death wish and, of course, some car drivers seem to want to help them on their way!! Even allowing a good gap when overtaking cyclists, this can disappear when they swerve out whilst chatting or when standing on the pedals to get up a hill. Perhaps there needs to be a licensing, insurance and taxing system for cycles to ensure a bit more respect and awareness both ways.
