Dear Sir I FEEL the need to write to you to further highlight a problem which has been in various publications recently. My husband, like many others, has been refused Pension Credit as he resides abroad. We moved here in 2002 and he became a pensioner in 2006 and had paid 45 years of contributions to the UK Government.

We heard about the Pension Credit from the TV and applied only to be told he was not entitled as he lives abroad. The same argument then surely applies that we are only European if it suits the Government.

I have looked into this further and it seems that under a European Court ruling in Oct.2007 the UK Government is acting illegally in not exporting benefits. Whilst I appreciate this only applies to people who claimed in the U.K then moved abroad a campaigner says the Department of Work and Pensions is considering the legal implications of paying benefit to people who wish to claim from abroad. What implications? Again, European or not? Just because we have some land and sea between us why are we not entitled?

There is a petition to the Government called “Petition to: recognise the same rights for UK pensioners” which can be signed at the direct website http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/OAPsAbroad/. I would urge as many people as possible to sign this as I was disappointed to find that, to date, there are only 21 signatures on it. Even if you are not affected now one day you may be and we must try to get this unfair and discriminatory law changed. Thank you.

Dear Sir, HI to all. I was reading the Bulletin today on the Internet and noticed that trams are being planned to run in Palma. This would be the biggest mistake ever made by the politicians in Majorca. I live in the beautiful city of Edinburgh, and for the last two years (feels like ten) our city has become one large no go area. The centre of town is disgraceful, all dug up and now due to dispute between the Scottish Government and the company employed to carry out the work, everything has stopped in the city centre. Please don't come to Edinburgh this year and probably next year too, as Edinburgh will be one large building site with no end in sight to the continuous digging up of the roads in this (formerly) beautiful city and heritage site. I love Majorca and travel there every year and the thought of your lovely Palma becoming a building site for two or three years fills me with horror.

So, please don't listen to the politicians as your city will become a building site, roads will be closed, buses will be re-routed and delays will be horrendous! HONEST STOP NOW! ASK YOUR POLITICIANS TO CHECK OUT EDINBURGH THAT WILL CHANGE THEIR OPINIONS !!!

Love to all my friends in beautiful Majorca. Hasta Mayo.
