Ex Lib-Dem MP Chris Huhne is again in the news this time trying to avoid paying the costs for his trial for perjury which he finally admitted after 10 years of venomous denial. Have pity he's down to his last £3.5 million. This is the same convicted criminal who, but for a delay in a postal vote over Christmas 2007, would have become leader of the Liberal Democratic Party and later the deputy Prime Minister of our present government.

He is not our only jailed parliamentarian. Comparing the UK prison population with the population in general you maybe (or maybe not?) surprised to learn that the 1400 of them in Westminster are statistically 5 times more likely to end up behind bars than Joe Public.

I hate to think what statistic would emerge on our small island as I think we already have some 10 currently inside and another score more under investigation.
