By Jason Moore YOU'VE got to hand it to Real Mallorca President, Vicente Grande, he certainly lives up to his surname (big!). Just three months ago when Mallorca were battling relegation he announced plans to add two tower blocks, consisting of hundreds of flats and offices, to the Son Moix stadium. His petition was declined by the city council. Now, with the club still on a high after their epic fight back against relegation, he wants to buy the Son Moix from the council. His plans for the stadium are unclear although it is rumoured that he either wants to extend it or knock it down and start again. For sure, Grande wants to put Real Mallorca on a more sound finanacial footing. His plans for the two tower blocks would have generated much revenue for the club which would have been spent (allegedly) on new players. But while I agree that it is important sometimes to think big I believe that the chairman should be concentrating on things which are closer to home. Real Mallorca only narrowly survived in the First Division for the third season in a row, the gates the local club receive are a disgrace. There were far more people celebrating Barcelona's Champions League victory in Palma than actually go to Son Moix. My advice? Get the club in order, get some new players and then think about the next stage which will be far more costly.
